NOIA's 2010 AGM: Board of Directors Election
27 January 2010
: Earlier today at the Holiday Inn St. John’s, more than 200 representatives from member companies of the Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (NOIA) gathered to elect a new Board of Directors and to focus on the year ahead.
The membership elected a new vice-chair and three/four new directors at their Annual General Meeting, and listened to David Collyer’s, President of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) outlook of Canada's oil and gas sector.
Chair for 2010, Jack Lawlor, welcomed the newly assembled team and charged them with the task of working together for the benefit of industry as a whole. The newly elected members of the 2010 Board of Directors are:
• Vice-Chair: Tim Lawrence, Oceaneering Canada Limited
• Director: Rhonda Devine, Ozark Services Ltd.
• Director: Mike Critch, Fabcon Canada Ltd.
• Director: Sean Power, DFB Group
• Director: Paul Dwyer, Schlumberger Canada Ltd.
Mr. Lawlor noted that part of his focus as Chair will be to help NOIA grow as a proactive organization in serving our membership’s needs. “Exploration is essential to our industry’s sustainability and while there is much to look forward to in our own region we must begin to look north at opportunities in the Arctic,” he said.
NOIA President & CEO, Robert Cadigan released the Association’s Annual Report, and presented members with NOIA’s strategy for 2010 for further promotion of the local oil & gas industry. “Despite the state of the global economy, the oil and gas industry here on the East Coast hasn’t slowed down in the past year. In fact, the year saw substantial progress across all sectors of the industry,” explained Mr. Cadigan. “Exploration activity continues to speed up in the region. Offshore will see a number of exploration wells drilled in the active Jeanne d’Arc but also completion of the deepwater East Wolverine exploration well in the Laurentian Basin and a second deepwater well the Orphan Basin. Seismic activity is planned in Labrador and the Sydney Basin.”
Upon conclusion of the election of the board of directors NOIA’s board comprises:
• Jack Lawlor, Killick Group – Chair
• Tim Lawrence – Vice-Chair
• Trevor Giles, Technip Canada– Treasurer
• Geoff Cunningham, A. Harvey & Company Ltd – Past- Chair
• George Osmond, George Osmond & Associates Ltd - Director
• Betty Gill, P.F. Collins International Trade Solutions – Director
• Rod Hogg, Peter Kiewit & Sons Co – Director
• Rob Strong, Tideway Canada – Director
