Michael Economides to present keynote address at NOIA Conference 2009

- The Newfoundland & Labrador Oil & Gas Industries Association (NOIA) welcomes best-selling author, Michael Economides to its 2009 Conference,

Michael Economides is a chemical and petroleum engineer and an expert on energy geopolitics.
“We are very fortunate to have Mr. Economides speaking at this year’s conference,” said Stephen Henley, Conference Co-Chair. “He is a renowned author and considered by many as the premiere world expert on the geopolitics of energy. His presentation titled,
Energy Geopolitics on the Oil and Gas Markets
, will provide key insights into the current economic and political climate, particularly as it relates to the oil & gas industry.”
Mr. Economides has served as Senior Technical Advisor to Yukos and Sibneft, Russia’s major petroleum companies, ENI, Italy’s main petroleum multinational company, and China’s CNOOC and subsidiary COSL. During 1997 and 1998 he was in Venezuela as the Senior Advisor on Production Technology for PDVSA, the national oil company of Venezuela. He holds a number of positions including: professor at the Cullen College of Engineering, University of Houston; Chairman of the Board of XGAS, a natural gas firm; Managing Partner of Dr. Michael J. Economides Consultants, Inc., with a wide range of industrial consulting; Editor-in-Chief of Energy Tribune; and Editor-on-Chief of the newly established peer-reviewed Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering.
He has a large number of publications in international magazines and is the well-known author of the best seller,
The Color of Oil
. His latest wide appeal book is
From Soviet to Putin and Back: The Dominance of Energy in Today’s Russia
.
Mr. Economides gives about 50 speeches per year to groups from many large professional societies, organizations and corporations. He is a frequent guest on national and international media, and many local stations throughout the world. He writes for the editorial pages of major newspapers and internet news organizations. He also has 14 textbooks and over 200 journal papers and articles to his credit.
Michael Economides is the luncheon keynote speaker for the second day of conference on Wednesday June 17, 2009. His presentation will take place at the Delta Hotel, St. John’s at 12:30 p.m.
