Moya Cahill to receive NOIA’s Outstanding Contribution Award for 2009
St John’s, NL; February 5
– NOIA is pleased to announce that Moya Cahill, President of PanGeo Subsea Inc., is the recipient of the NOIA Outstanding Contribution Award for 2009.
Ms. Cahill saw the opportunities of the oil and gas industry as an engineering student involved in the Norwegian offshore. She returned home in the late 1980s to form the engineering and consulting company, MNC Group Inc. In 1994, she was awarded the Canadian Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and was one of the top 40 under 40 in 1998. Also in 1998, she co-founded Pan Maritime Energy Services Inc., which in 2004 was globalized through Pan Maritime Qatar. 2005 brought the distinction of the National Post’s “Power 50 Women”. In 2006, Ms. Cahill saw an opportunity to connect locally-made advanced technology with the Norwegian technological sector, and was the co-founder of PanGeo Subsea Inc., the company she currents leads.
Through her career, Ms. Cahill recognized the importance of collating strengths and giving back to the community. During the 1990s, Ms. Cahill was heavily involved with NOIA as a Director, Vice-Chair and Chair, as well as chair or member of numerous committees. Ms. Cahill has lent her experience and expertise in various capacities to the broader sector as Chair of the Board of Governors for the College of the North Atlantic, as a member of the Premier’s Advisory Council on the Economy and Environment, as Provincial President and Governor for the Council for Canadian Unity, and Governor of the Atlantic Province’s Economic Council to name a few.
Jerry Byrne, Chair of the 2009 Outstanding Contribution Award Selection Committee, said “The NOIA Outstanding Contribution Award was conceived to recognize the individuals who influence the course of our oil and gas industry through their work and lives. On behalf of the NOIA Board of Directors, and the 2009 OCA Selection Committee, I am very pleased to add Moya Cahill’s name to the roster of thinkers, leaders, and doers have been past recipients of the NOIA OCA. Moya is a woman who, throughout her career has had and shared a vision for what the local community could bring to industry, and what industry could bring to East Coast Canada. Her commitment, her drive, and her innovation has been a key cog in wheel that has spurred growth and success.”
Ms. Cahill will be presented with the honour at NOIA’s
